BIBLE VERSES FOR AUGUST

PERSONAL PEACE

Do you long to have real peace in your life?  Peace in the midst of any condition, problem, trial, illness and when you face death?  Conditions all about us bring anxiety, worry and even fear.   The future is unknown, and as many anticipate what might happen, stress brings emotional and physical problems.  In the midst of all of this, we can possess true peace in our lives as we trust what the God of Israel has promised to do for those who have faith in Him and His plan for us.  What has God promised?  The following verses of Scripture are from the Bible, God’s Word to us.

Numbers chapter 6, verse 26: “The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”  True, genuine peace comes from almighty God.

Psalm 29, verse 11: “The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.”  In the midst of trouble, God will give strength and peace to His people.  “His people” are those who live according to His Word in the Bible.  Believers who trust God and His promises will possess true peace.

Isaiah chapter 26, verses 3-4: “Thou [God] wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee [God]: because he trusteth in thee [God].  Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”  The Almighty God of creation and ruler of the universe calls us to trust in Him and He will give us perfect peace and strength!

Isaiah chapter 48, verse 22; chapter 59, verse 2 and verse 8: “There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.”  “Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”  “The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.”   As God has given to those who trust Him promises of peace, strength and so many other blessings, so God has said there is no real peace to the wicked or those who live in sin and reject His plan of how to be forgiven of sin.

Hebrews chapter 9, verses 14-15:  “How much more shall the blood of Messiah who…offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works [good deeds do not take away sin] to serve the living God.  And for this cause he [Messiah Jesus] is the mediator of the new covenant [testament] that by death [Messiah Jesus dies in our place to provide the blood of atonement for us to be forgiven of our sins]…they which are called [and believe] might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.”   The promises of God will never fail!  All that the Lord God has given to us will be real in our lives throughout eternity.

I Peter chapter 1, verses 3-4, and 8-9: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Messiah, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Messiah from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time…Whom having not seen, ye love, in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”  An inheritance in this life from a relative or friend is good, but it will be gone in time.  The inheritance that almighty God has prepared for us, who trust in Him and Messiah Jesus, will be in Heaven for eternity!  It will never fade away, it can never be corrupted or defiled, it will be perfect forever and will bring us joy unspeakable.  Praise God!

Luke chapter 1, verses 77-79:  “To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission [forgiveness] of their sins, through the tender mercy of God…To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

John chapter 14, verse 27 and chapter 16, verse 33: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  “These things have I [Messiah Jesus] spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.  In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”  The Messiah was sent to earth by God to provide the way for us to be forgiven of sin.  Messiah Jesus died in our place to take the punishment for our sins that we might be forgiven.  His resurrection from the grave by God proved that God accepted Messiah Jesus’ sacrifice in our place.  As we confess our sins to God and accept Jesus blood of atonement for us to be forgiven, we are cleansed of all sin; what a wonderful feeling that is!  Real peace is now ours in this life and forever!  Nothing in this material world can compare to this blessing from God.

Philippians chapter 4, verses 6-7: “Be careful [anxious] for nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Messiah Jesus.”  Hearts mean our emotions and minds mean our thoughts.  Peace in these two areas of life gives joy in living.

The material possessions of life can bring pleasure and enjoyment for a time, but they can vanish in a moment.  When death comes, all of the material things that have been accumulated in life will be left behind.

The God of Israel, the Almighty LORD of Abraham, offers to us today the answer to our need for peace in our lives.   This is not an emotional or mental escape from reality.   I know, as a Bible-believing Jew, that the peace of God is real in my life!  The fear of death is gone, for I know that death is the doorway to Heaven since I have put my trust in God’s plan for me to have a personal relationship with Him.  Of course problems and illness come, but as these are committed to God there is daily peace in the midst of anything.

How did I find this wonderful peace?  I searched for God and found Him in the pages of the Bible.   This is a personal, living relationship with the Almighty God of creation who loves us and has provided peace for us in the midst of all of our needs.  Read the articles on this website that will give you a clear understanding of how to know God and find true peace today and for eternity.  I have written the articles and recorded the audio on this website to share with you how I became a Jewish Bible believer.  Yes, I am still a blood descendant of Abraham!  Born a Jew and will die a Jew.
